Split second

 It was here a second ago...  her fingers felt the pavement ..moving across the ground searching for her wallet..it was gone. She blinked frantically and wiped the rain off her face with her hands. It was pouring now. Drenched to the skin she could tell this would be a long day. Her umbrella had a mind of its own as it stubbornly kept opening the wrong way! The clouds continued to roar overhead.This was impossible. A few seconds later the umbrella landed in the waste bin.
A car missed her by a fraction as she ran across the road. Hair sticking to her face as she used one hand to shield her eyes. A flash across the road and the last thing she saw was concrete.

Sirens and flashing lights. Muffled conversations and urgency filled the air. She felt a warm liquid trickle down her side as someone touched her face and a bright light blinded her.
"She's coming to". A voice echoed through her head. She's awake...
"Why would someone just walk into a car like that" ! The voices continued...
