Her Story

To those of you who have read the first part of this -I hope you enjoy this as much..if not I definitely want to know :)

Her hand was a few centimeters from his resting on the rail. An announcement overhead voiced her flight was ready for check in. She was looking down not wanting to move and not wanting to stay. Deep in thought..she wanted him to say something..anything. His head hung low, moving occasionally to scan the clock on the wall but otherwise he was still. His mouth tight in concentration. He seemed to be making a conscious effort not to look at her. She was desperately trying not to stare at him and continued to memorise the curves of his face. Two years on and he was still the most handsome face she had ever known. His silent confidence still hypnotised.

She remembered a time when his every movement was alive. His passion for living in the moment was unparallelled to anything she had ever known. She lived in constant awe and want of him. Unlike others he didn't settle into the regular routine of "Honey I love you but got a run"even once they were engaged.
Their conversation was free flowing. There was always more to talk about and always more to do.Life was short and theirs for the taking. Their future together seemed to be built on the foundations of an invisible and deeply entrenched trust.Or so she had thought...

Now he stood next to her looking guilty and helpless. A child who had lost his way home. She had never seen him look so alone and had been surprised at his suggestion to say his final goodbye face to face. He wasn't great at emotional confrontations. Plus he was the one who had initiated the end of a two year long courtship. A relationship that had once seemed as though it would stand the test of time.

His hand brushed hers and he finally made eye contact. His voice was hardly audible "Can you forgive me?" A clumsy embrace followed and the colour from his face drained. His sadness clearly visible.. She wanted to make him feel better. She felt foolish for wanting to comfort him when he had unceremoniously ended things with her. Shouldn't he have been the one trying to make her feel better? She lost the battle between her heart and mind giving in to her womanly sentiments...whispering in his ear " It was always you. No one ever came close". The flood gates opened and they both sobbed, uncertainty and discomfort heavily sharing their space.

An announcer called the final passengers to board before the gate closed.

He suddenly let go of her "I cant do it." She felt disrespected and easily discarded. The reality of what had happened hit her hard. If he wasn't going to stand up for her now -he was not going to be able to do it in the future. He was a coward and if he didn't believe she was worth fighting for she wasn't going to try to convince him otherwise. God knows she wanted to but this time her pride stopped her. Pride is a dangerous thing. A small niggling thought knocked at her conscience and she skillfully ignored it.

Their lives changed. He didn't try to stop her.She desperately wanted him to and hoped he couldn't tell.. She looked at him.A long hard stare. A look she hoped emoted her independence from him but was having the opposite effect and exposing her vulnerability. He knew her too well and would certainly know how hard this was for her. He wasn't hers anymore and the very thought was cutting her up inside.

A strong determination set in. There were no words. She was decided ..he would never see her again and with that she walked away.

As she walked another familiar face came into view. There was a scowl on his face and as she tried to ignore him and walk past.. he grabbed her hand trying to yank off the ring on her finger. "He left you-let the past be just that -the past. Leave him there".

She was horrified at his insolence and jerked her hand away. " How dare you. My past has made me the person I am today. He may have let me go..that was his perogative.. but my choice will be a different one." She slipped the ring back into place a little surprised at what she had just said. She had made a decision without even thinking about it.....She had gained something. ...She had gained the ability to love him without expectations.

A sadder ending. Hun, sad endings are too close to reality! This is a story so lets enjoy it as:real feelings wrapped in a tale!:)

Meena why the anger?

anger,
i dunno - guess i have to deal with the sadder endings of actual reality. So seeing the fake happy/hope just struck me the wrong way.

That was awesome!

''love him without expectations''

It blows u away the ability to do so. Tho mine comes and goes during good days and bad days...

Im gessing after this read that this definitely is mainly fiction ;) Very well written either ways!

Why is it that it always feels like he needs to stand up or fight (from girls perspective) - I mean, would he love any less w/o that test.

I actually do believe that some men lose their love when their women dont stand up to the same test either... Im gessing we jst see more of the womens side where we are at?
